Butterfly Ball

The DSWA Butterfly Ball event has become a tradition that DSWA families, supporters and sponsors look forward to every year. The 2011 Ball was held on Saturday May 28th at the Convention & Exhibition Centre and was a fabulous night. See below for photos of the Butterfly Ball since it commenced in 2005. The Butterfly Ball

The inaugural Butterfly Ball was held in 2005 and was the brainchild of Lucy Tilli, Down Syndrome WA member and mother of Alex who has Down syndrome. Lucy organised the Ball in 2005 and 2006 and has been on the committee in subsequent years. In 2007 an Award was established in Lucy's honour to acknowledge her contribution to Down Syndrome WA. Award winners are chosen for the substantial contribution they have made to people with Down syndrome or to the Association over a long period of time. The inaugural Butterfly Ball held at the Perth Hyatt Regency Hotel in 2005 and raised $60,000. The 2006 Butterfly Ball raised a staggering $115,000 and was an outstanding success! The Ball has continued to grow in popularity and has become an integral part of Down Syndrome WA's ability to provide supports and prorams for families, for people with Down syndrome and for the community in general. So congratulations to Lucy, for introducing the ball to the DSWA calendar, and thank you to ball committees and sponsors for their hard work, generosity and the continued success of the Butterfly Ball.
