World Down Syndrome Day - Wednesday March 21st

This year, for the first time, World Down Syndrome Day will be officially recognised by the United Nations.  People all around the world will be celebrating the lives and achievements of people with Down syndrome, creating a global voice, advocating for the rights, inclusion and well being of people with Down syndrome.

Keep 12 noon to 2pm free on World Down Syndrome Day and come along to our local 'beat the drum' event in Fremantle, and help WA be part of this global celebration!

'Beat the drum for Down syndrome'

Free event on the Fremantle Esplanade between 12 - 2pm on the 21st of March.  Click here for all the details about 'beat the drum' and to print a flyer for the event.

Tea for 321 during the month of March all around Australia!

Support Australians with Down syndrome and celebrate World Down Syndrome Day with people all around the nation by holding a morning or afternoon tea!  This is something you can actually DO and important in helping to inform people about Down syndrome. Holding a ‘tea’ specifically to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day, will already tell people that this is important, and when they accept your invitation they will be showing their support. Together you can play a part in changing attitudes and increasing understanding in the community.  Click here for more details and to download flyers and other documents to help you plan your 'tea' event.

Artist Dave Guhl in New York and at the United Nations

Artist Dave Guhl has been invited to represent Australia and exhibit some of his paintings at the International DOWNright ART exhibition to be held in New York during March. This event is held regularly for artists with Down syndrome in the United States, but this year, to mark the UN recognition of World Down Syndrome Day, it has been opened to artists from all over the world.  Click here to read more in the E-News about Dave in New York.
