Coffee Mornings

New parent morning teas are run by our Family Support Worker every term so that new families can connect and share experiences and information.  A Therapist from DSC is invited to attend each of these to let families know what services are available and to answer any queries that families might have.   Click here and view our calendar of events to see when the next new parent morning tea will be held.

If you are a new parent and would like to be put in touch with other new families before the next morning tea, contact us.  We can find other new families to connect you with.

Many new families introduced to each other at a new parent morning tea continue to meet regularly.  Let us know if you have a group in your area and would be happy for other new parents to join your group.  You may even like to advertise your group on our News and Events page.  We would love to hear about new parent groups in different areas.  Contact us.

Have you seen our list of local contacts?  The contact people on this list have children of varying ages.  Click here to view the list.  Would you like to meet someone in your area?  If so, you can call your local contact.

Would you like to become a local contact person and hold a coffee morning from time to time?  Contact us so we can add your name to the list.

If you would like to meet up with other families to discuss a particular issue or to share information about an area of concern or interest, contact the local person on your list or contact us and we will try to set up a coffee morning for you.  You may even like to have a speaker address the group.  We would love to help.  Call and discuss this with us.

Socials - Dinners - Picnics - BBQs

From time to time Down Syndrome WA will hold a social evening or a dinner or a picnic.  These events are usually advertised in newsletters and included on our News and Events page.  If you have any ideas for social events, give us a call to discuss it or contact us via the website.

Sometimes groups of families get together for a picnic or a BBQ.  Often Dads can't attend coffee mornings but would like to meet up with other Dads at a family picnic or BBQ.  Let us know if you would like these events to be advertised in newsletters or included on our News and Events page.

Discos

Down Syndrome WA holds an annual disco, usually during Awareness Week.  Check our calendar of events to see when the next disco will be held.

Contact us to find out about other discos that might be taking place.  We sometimes hear about them.  Usually we will try to let people know about these through our newsletter or on our News and Events page.

Bowling

Bowling groups run throughout the year both north and south of the river.  Contact us if you would like your son or daughter to join a Saturday bowling group.

Karate

A Karate group meets every Saturday and would love to hear from interested young people who would like to attend.  Contact us if you want to find out more.

Dance

We would be interested to hear from experienced dance teachers, or volunteer helpers, who may like to be involved in running dance groups for people with Down syndrome.  Dancing is a very popular activity with our members and we have had many requests for a dance group.  We would love to set something up.  Contact us if you have any ideas or can help.

Other activities

We are happy to advertise groups and activities on this page.  If you know about something that's happening in your area and would like others to hear about it, contact us and we will help get the news out there.
