Children with Down syndrome will and do have friendships and meaningful relationships.  We are fortunate that our children are growing up in a culture where they are immersed in inclusion and friendships are seen as special, and differences make the world more interesting.  Some older children find friendships with other people with disabilites easier to maintain than those with typically developing peers.
