Community Living & Respite

Community Living

There are many community living options available for adults with Down syndrome.  Choices will depend on the person's ability to manage their finances, prepare meals, maintain personal hygiene and use public transport. Options include:

  • remaining at home and using respite services as needed.
  • supported living arrangements where the person with Down syndrome lives in a house or apartment with or without room mates and receives supported services as needed.
  • group living situations where they share a home with other people with disabilities and have 24 hour support services.
